Globe Design Logo

I'm a web-designer and developer from Cape Town, South Africa, who operates under the name Globe Design. I've been creating websites since 2003. Web design and developement is my way of letting all my creative juices flow.

I love learning and embracing new advances in technology and always have a project of my own in progress. In my 'spare time', I can be found playing guitar, gazing at clouds or stars, model railroading and cycling.

Design Philosophy

Turning well-thought out ideas into creatively designed, functional and stylish websites is my passion. In my designs, I put particular emphasis on colours, white space, functionality, speed and intuitive user interfaces. I prefer to hard code my websites and make elegant use of HTML, CSS, javscript and jQuery. For server-based applications I use PHP.

I take pride in my work and look forward to working with you on your next project.

Skills

Web Design & Development, Coding (HTML 5, CSS 3, jQuery, Ajax, PHP), Web Apps, UI Creation, Photoshop.

Getting Started

After our initial meeting to discus your project, the creation of most websites is broken into three phases:

Planning

The website deign and function is sketched out (literally) and some graphical mock-ups are made. Any further details are discussed.

1

Design

This stage is the most exciting, as the website is transformed from hand-drawn sketches into a digital artwork. After approval, development begins.

2

Development

The 'lorem ipsums' are replaced with proper content, the background workings are coded and any additional dynamic content is integrated.

Things to Remember

Try and be as detailed in your description of the web-site / project as possible. This allows me to know exactly what you have in mind, and lets me provide you with accurate estimates of time and cost.

I usually require a 50% deposit before I start working on the project. When the project is complete, I'll create an invoice for the remaining amount and then make the final website accessible online.
